iStock_000046422986_SmallMindfulness coaching appointments can be conducted in person in the Beacon Hill area of downtown Kansas City, MO or via the internet using VSee, Skype, or FaceTime.

Mindfulness coaching fees are based on a sliding scale according to income in order to serve a wider range of clients. Those who are able to pay more make it possible for us to serve those who have less. In the spirit of compassion and generosity, 10% of Tier 1 & 2 coaching fees go toward ending homelessness in Kansas City.

Payment for coaching appointments is due in advance, at time of scheduling in order to reserve your time. Although the time spent with your coach is negotiable, a typical coaching session lasts about an hour. Mindfulness coaching is not a medical treatment so insurance is not billed and fees are not covered by insurance. Please allow 24 hours notice for your coaching appointment – same day appointments are not available. There are no refunds for missed appointments or for cancellations made less than 24 hours from your scheduled appointment time.

Coaching vs. Psychotherapy

Coaching is different from psychotherapy. They do share some commonalities, but they have different purposes and very different rules. A coach is a mentor and a trainer who helps clients set goals and accomplish objectives, whereas a counselor is a health provider who identifies and treats mental health disorders. Coaching is not meant as a substitute for mental health treatment.

Although Dr. Ochester is a psychologist, she does not treat mental health disorders in her coaching practice. Those who are interested in treatment for a mental health disorder such as anxiety or depression should visit her psychology practice, Ochester Psychological Services, LLC or access her local mental health resources site,

Dr. Ochester’s therapy and coaching clients alike are welcome to take her Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy and other mindfulness and yoga classes and workshops as her role in this service is of Qualified Teacher rather than coach or therapist.  In order to maintain good boundaries, Dr. Ochester does not mix individual coaching and psychotherapy with the same client.  She is glad to refer any current or past coaching or psychotherapy clients to other providers upon request.

Clear Mind Open Heart, LLC does not discriminate against any person on the ground of race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, sexual orientation, or disability.
